A Classic Education’s debut Call It Blazing could be lazily labelled as providing a fair serving of the former with a tragic lack of the latter
In 1968 George Harrison produced the Remo recording tracks for his ‘Wonderwall’ soundtrack album. During these sessions he recorded the Remo performing ‘In the First Place’, a number penned by Colin and Tony Ashton. George even played on the number, although it wasn’t released at the time. In fact, the number was finally issued as a CD single over 30 years later in January 1999.
Though it was initially met with fierce disapproval by Brian Wilson, a later composite version of core Smile track “Surf’s Up” was completed by the Beach Boys in 1971 and released as the Surf’s Up album’s lead single. Since portions of the instrumental track were missing a lead vocal, one was overdubbed by Carl Wilson.
